Could’ve made the “buy 10 tickets” window 6 months and you would’ve had few complaints. The old ten trips were perfect for visiting family in the suburbs (among other occasional use cases). Absurd to limit it to 2 weeks.

Was it confirmed it would be 24/7? I haven’t seen anything about service span and for some reason I felt like it would not be.

I’ve never had crew like that. Only time I’ve been told specifically where to sit was when I was boarding a train at an intermediate station in the middle of the night. Other times I’ve been directed to a specific car, but again only on an overnight train.

Day trains have always been free-for-all

My partner used to work at a bar 2.3 miles in to Nassau Co. Every night there would be pre-booked Access-A-Ride van(s) sitting out front to shuttle people back home. Pretty crazy for the price of a subway ride!

Separate complaint here: I know it is outside of NYC but I wish something could be done about fare zone 4 on the LIRR. 10 min train rides from Jamaica should not cost that much.

The cost to ride to Suffolk is way easier to stomach on a per mile cost basis.

Hopefully we can start with the current $5.25 ticket including a bus/subway trip at both ends of the journey. That would help massively.

What I mean is, the new round of ADA money from the new capital program and congestion pricing only just started arriving. They have been knocking out those renovations platform-by-platform for, what, 2 years now?
February 1, 2026 at 10:40 AM
It would really suck if riders had to spend years more in the dilapidated stations simply because they don’t have money yet for the renovations to include elevators. (Another NA elevator cost problem)
This has been my hypothesis for why, despite completely rebuilding them, they are keeping roughly the same old aesthetic. Not as easy to sue about like the ESI stations.

Pretty sure nothing about the ADA is requiring that they keep subway routes duplicated. Just in August they re-routed the Q102 away from running under a significant portion of the Astoria Line.

Germany has an amazingly dense network of trains. Look at how infrequent and sparse non- HSR regional trains are in France and Spain.
January 25, 2026 at 11:59 PM
Blowing my mind to realize there are people who have already gotten super used to using these 2+ times a day (if they are on the station and entrance/exit they regularly use)

That looks AMAZING

I hate dynamic pricing with all my soul. If I decide I want to go to Philly I should be able to do that as easily and predictably as going to Poughkeepsie. Leave the dynamic pricing to the Acelas.

But I have gone to Philly for only $9 each way, flat rates wouldn’t have allowed that.

😕

Why did you cut out the elevators from the picture? I thought the way they laid it was making it pretty clear, they will be prioritizing elevators because they are quicker.

I saw another headline that she “proposes” the west expansion. Sure.

The proper word is advancing. She is advancing the 125th St crosstown plan.
January 13, 2026 at 6:15 PM
Thankfully those service plans are very old, would definitely be re-evaluated before phase 3 is built. They were already planning to build to 63rd St connection anyway, it just wasn’t going to be used in service.

But yes, the dining area at GCT should have more. That is an actual oversight. And GCT's ticketed waiting area is rather small, but always has open seats when I've looked in.
January 11, 2026 at 6:05 PM
Lack of seats at Moynihan isn't even true. There is plenty in the dining area, and there are 3 ticketed waiting areas, all of which have always had open seats for me to use.

They need to stop more trains at Woodside. When the transfer is short (even up to 10 min) or a direct train, it is an amazing way to get to western Queens.

But in all my experience of going both ways, it is never worth going to Manhattan unless the Woodside transfer is over 20 min AND QBL is local.
January 11, 2026 at 4:31 PM
I’ve had a few bad encounters with it. Thankfully never missed a train because of it.

Also a ton more I didn’t screenshot where they left a minute early.

But it’s definitely not common to leave early, and I have never seen them leave early from a terminal.
January 11, 2026 at 4:29 PM
What is yellow?

Strange to see several people on Roosevelt Island using Atlantic Terminal.

Also, would like to meet the people going via midtown to take the LIRR to Astoria. Big mistake not using Woodside or Jamaica there.
January 11, 2026 at 4:10 PM
If they were to integrate the fare (even just offer free transfer/step up fare without reducing CityTicket cost), the railroads would almost immediately exceed pre-covid ridership and the trains would get packed within city limits. Good excuse to run more service to the inner terminals.

I have two different 10 trips for Metro-North, each of the tickets within each bundle have different IDs.
