Canadian here; We used to go to New York as a family during school vacations. Not any more. Traveling within Canada for short breaks. We can’t see returning to the US while things are as they are.

Thank you for this. Sadly, the people who will pay attention are the people who respect knowledge, and that pretty much rules out anti-vaxers. The problem we face is not lack of knowledge, it’s the people who are susceptible to ignorant persuasion. How do we change their opinions?

ChatGTP and its cousins are tremendously useful tools, but like all tools they are limited and flawed. We need better “ai” (in quotes because there’s really no “I” in AI) and we need better users of AI.

I don’t need a self driving car. I know how to drive, thank you. I will trust self-driving cars when they don’t share the roads with human drivers.

Good public transit in general. Trains solve on part of the transportation problem, but we need good subway service in dense cities, good bus service everywhere, good bicycling infrastructure, …. Lots of Europe does this right.

I am pretty passionate about many things, and when what makes me a living isn’t going to make me a living any more I shift to something else that I live that does. Not that it’s easy…

I don’t know - loving something gives you passion and drive to be really good at something, and hopefully to want to make a real contribution. I would look at it a bit differently; I want to love what I do that supports me, but not be dependent on it forever.
