DM's went downhill in quality after they were sold a few times. The originals were made by Solovair in the UK and you can still get their very high quality boots using the same machines and processes from back in the day. us.nps-solovair.com

They are discontinued but likely still available in certain places: the Audio Technica AT-LP120 is a good choice. Direct drive, adjustable and upgradeable, with an onboard preamp if you need it. There's USB out on some models if you wanna mess with that.
