The game took me longer than most of my pico 8 projects: A total of 52 hours of dev time spread over 2 months. I spent a while refactoring and stringifying things to get under the token limit. I also completely filled the spritesheet for the first time.

Like many of my games, this game wears its inspirations on its sleeves: Hyper Light Drifter is one of my favorite games. I've always wanted to make something with similar combat, so here it is.

Tomb of the giants is super scary for this same reason. Dark souls isn’t a horror game, so a spooky dark tomb with skeletons + actual stakes (if i die to a jumpscare, i lose progress and souls) makes it way scarier to me than the average horror game.
