When?

We agree because we are terminally online. Voters don’t. Politics is about power. When some things are inevitable, it is best to play the game.

These nominees are going to pass anyways. Some Dems need to signal to their voters that they are trying to be bipartisan to win election again. While I didn’t agree with Schumer, Dems have more leverage for the next CR vote.

This entire problem could be avoided by voting in more Dems.

How have they been complicit or complacent? Republicans control all three branches. What do you expect them to do?

This is an order of magnitude off. Infact, they probably haven’t even found $15 billion. All their numbers are made up or potential savings. This is absolutely reprehensible, and I hope they prosecute this man.

I test drove an Equinox EV. With all the incentives, you can lease for less than $240 a month. $0 down. It was genuinely very good and had all the features you could ask for. There is no need to buy a Tesla.

I guess the point is we already have countless media harping on the billionaires. A succinct thesis focusing on one aspect is good sometimes 😄

been consumed by right-wing pressure and money. I think it’s a little simple to just blame money. It’s a component, but I think it just misses the arguments that people like Ezra are making when people can only see money as the primary focus and stray from other causes highlighted.
April 8, 2025 at 3:11 PM
I think politicians will always follow their voting base. No amount of money will overcome a politician blatantly rejecting their base. Repubs are in a cult. However, trump had losses despite his support and money. I do see X and Fox News as state media tho. We can agree that media has definitely

Does money make some difference? Probably. However, average Americans are not voting cause of it. I think the tactic of just blaming the oligarchy will need to change as there are probably some other fundamental issues our politics have to tackle.
April 8, 2025 at 1:08 PM
It seems a lot of people’s main criticism of this book is that Ezra didn’t outright blame an oligarchy. While he has acknowledged in interviews that they are a variable, it is interesting that people overstate money in politics. Elon overwhelmingly lost in Wisconsin. Kamala lost despite her warchest

All the political fervor died without any real policy change. Does anyone even remember defund the police? All that’s happening now is Republicans get to wage war on trans people. It does not seem like this article was entirely wrong. Idk why such strong feelings for such a milquetoast article.
April 4, 2025 at 6:00 AM
This is a bad faith reading by you. The article clearly states and focuses on the purity culture, canceling, and indignant attitudes of “woke” people. It’s the excesses of their overreach. This has nothing to do with civil rights.
April 4, 2025 at 6:00 AM
Thanks for finding it! Reading through the article, I get the point. We are in a trolley problem. Either Reps can control immigration, or Dems can control immigration. Currently, Trump is deporting people without due process and paying them into slavery. Kamala or Biden wouldn’t be doing that.
April 3, 2025 at 3:46 PM
It seems like activists are not interested in educating. There is no patience or grace. That is not furthering civil rights, it’s just playing a game. These people do not care about political power or getting any real change forwarded. No civil rights movement looks like this.
April 3, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Well, no.

It is supposed to be an ironic term to make fun of people who think they know about minority communities and are performative. I would recommend you read the article. It does not say civil rights goals are ill-conceived.
April 3, 2025 at 3:40 PM
The fixation on "walking back to the center" is so misguided. Democrats desperately need to appeal to men of all races, but that doesn't mean dropping the progress we have made. Messaging can always be improved. Morality does not need to be sacrificed for that.
April 3, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Ahh, no worries
April 2, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Would have loved to read it. I just see a couple pro-immigration op-eds and some immigration reporting when trying to search for this.
April 2, 2025 at 11:02 PM
I read the article you provided. It raises the question about what achievements the woke movement achieved.

I did not see anything about anti-civil rights or anti-immigrant sentiment in it though. Would you by chance have a better example from the Atlantic?
April 2, 2025 at 10:55 PM
… let’s think a little more critically about why this might have been a bad source without getting incredibly bad faith.

Could it have been the gross mischaracterization of an Atlantic article that you went ahead and flaunted as truth to me?
April 2, 2025 at 10:44 PM
What? Keep reading your own screenshot. The author agrees with you that dead children are disturbing no matter what. How is he justifying child death?
April 2, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Really? You have no idea why I could be angry? You dont understand why I see you as an enabler?

Isn’t that kinda rough that you have no ability to even understand your actions?
April 2, 2025 at 7:29 PM
Sure, do you have the article link on hand so that I can read it?
