Sidenote: Point to note — McComb also owned the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Vikings at various points in his career.

I *feel* it's somewhat appropriate that a car salesman owned a South Texas team at some point in its history.

When a character is not present in a font, and no fallback option is available, the missing character is replaced with a symbol that has come to be known as “tofu” due to its resemblance to a block of tofu. (1/2)

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T. (1953) is the only feature film of Dr. Seuss who wrote the story, screenplay, and lyrics. It is a musical (naturally) about a boy who dreams himself into a fantasy world ruled by a diabolical piano teacher enslaving children to practice piano forever.

Schmidt also later rated the sting of a species of warrior wasp as a 4, describing it as "Torture. You are chained in the flow of an active volcano. Why did I start this list?", saying the pain lasts up to two hours

Pain level 4
The highest level. The original index had only one example - the bullet ant. Schmidt described the sting as "pure, intense, brilliant pain...like walking over flaming charcoal with a three-inch nail embedded in your heel."

Justin O. Schmidt, an entomologist at the Carl Hayden Bee Research Center in Arizona published an index rating the relative pain caused by different kinds of hymenopteran (think ants/bees/wasps) stings. It's called the Schmidt sting pain index

This is the "Cambridge Blue" colour. Kinda stretching the visual range that "blue" represents here methinks

Really want Luke Shaw to replace Kieran Trippier in this backline solely so that England could field numbers 1-11. Would be so satisfying

TIL Tuone Udaina was the last known speaker of the Dalmatian language. He was giving interviews about the language to Italian linguist, Matteo Bartoli, but died in a land-mine explosion while doing road work in 1898. Bartoli could not complete the interviews and the language was lost to time.

In a record I surprisingly don't hear much about:

Bert Oldfield took 52 stumpings in 54 test matches between the two World Wars.

Godfrey Evans is the next highest with 46 stumpings in...91 matches.

Oldfield's record has held for a century now, and no one looks even close to breaking it. Insane.

Now watching - Secret of the Incas (1954) - Charlton Heston stars as adventurer Harry Steele, on the trail of an ancient Incan artifact.

Wait this sounds/looks familiar...

Gianmarco Tamberi - the reigning Olympic high jump champion just set a new European Championship record @ 2.37m in Rome.

TIL he sports a full beard during qualification and shaves half of it for the finals. Never quite seen anything like this
