I think this is likely true, and I hate it because I hate web apps. I wish everything of every device was a native app. I understand some developers do not have the incentives, time, or resources to do that though.

Isn’t this what English, Literature, and History courses are for? If you are not learning these skills in those courses what are they teaching? English courses teach you generally how to read and write. Literature and History teach analysis of facts, opinion, and sources as well as critical reading.
