This week’s #DISstudentproject feature is a 19th century Oliver & Boyd’s object lesson card on ‘Gold’. An example of visual science education in the Victorian classroom.

👀 On the #DISstudentproject here’s a glimpse into a British version of a vintage Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, complete with PMs, flag colours, and Valentine’s Day trivia. How many did you get right?
A vintage typed page titled “Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale: Provisional list of modifications for British use.” It contains general knowledge questions for a British intelligence test, including topics like the colours of the British flag, names of prime ministers, direction from Southampton to Gibraltar, and the average height of an Englishwoman. This week’s #DISstudentproject features the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale by Terman & Merrill. This early psychometric kit offers insight into mid-20th c. intelligence testing through its tools and visual aids!

Last week the #DISstudentproject highlighted the Purdue Pegboard: a classic test of fine motor skills and dexterity! A staple in psychology and neuroscience for decades.

Iorwerth Peate born #OnThisDay 1901. Co-founder of St Fagans Museum. Editor of The Dragon UCW Magazine during 1922-23. He won the chair at the University of Wales Eisteddfod in 1922 with this poem ‘Adar Rhiannon’.
