A team of researchers from the Department of Food Technology, International University (IU-VNU, Ho Chi Minh City) visited our Computer Science Department. This is part of the joint Aberystwyth/IU-VNU project funded by ISPF-British Council: International Research Empowerment Programme 2025-2026.

Our wonderfully archaic Digital Systems Laboratory (“the DSL”) is getting a complete makeover this summer. It’ll be stripped out and brought up to date, along with refurbishment of the Delph and the Orchard computer rooms. We’re investing in your teaching spaces!

We're very proud of the @aberuni.bsky.social Computer Science students who were finalists at the BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium 2025 in Glasgow. Their poster topics included AI manipulation, robotic companions, space exploration, women in Open Source, automating tabletop games, digital privacy & more.
Many of the Aberystwyth students and staff who attended the Lovelace Colloquium 2025 gathered together for a group photo.

We had a morning filming in our Smart Home Lab yesterday, with lots of chat about the latest equipment in there, including student project work. Sensors, data loggers, companions, assistance arms, automated chairs, information screens and alarms are all being explored.

Neil Mac Parthaláin is at the #EESW North Wales Awards & Presentation Day in Llandudno today sharing info about our degrees in engineering, maths, physics and computer science. Lots of interest in our robotics and the colour calibration target that will be sent as part of the ExoMars 2028 rover.

We’re very pleased that Tally Roberts and Praboda Rajapaksha were awarded Aberystwyth University Women in Research Network Visibility Awards.Tally helps researchers to produce outreach activities from their research, and Praboda’s research is in health data science, working with local health boards.
