Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Holy fucking shit this is probably one of the greatest RPGs ever crafted. Please just play it, do not let yourself get spoiled. If this game doesn't win at least a few awards this year its been robbed. Great combat, incredible story. Absolute 10/10 game.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

It's still pretty bad. Not the worst movie I've seen by far. Still need to watch THAT Fantastic Four movie before the new one comes out...

Fantastic Four (2005)

It's pretty bad, but almost edges into funny bad. Lacks the charm of the 1994 one. Also what the hell was with the soundtrack picks? Superhero movies have come a long way.

DOOM Eternal

Managed to finish this one up right before Dark Ages came out. Probably the best singleplayer FPS campaign I've ever played? I enjoyed it a lot more than 2016, I loved the added strategy and platforming elements, made the gameplay a lot more dynamic. Will try Dark Ages soon-ish.

Thunderbolts*

Saw this last week, forgot to put it in. I was not expecting this movie to be as good as it was. First MCU film I've really enjoyed since Guardians 3. Very (cautiously) excited for the new Fantastic Four film.

The Fantastic Four (Unreleased, 1994)

Honestly surprisingly good and probably the best Fantastic Four movie (until the new one likely dethrones it). Very campy and low-budget but you can tell they had fun making it. Definitely didn't deserve its fate of being unreleased. Plus this legendary clip.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

My first time playing Oblivion as well as my first time actually finishing the main quest in a Bethesda game. Definitely enjoyed this one more than Skyrim, mainly because of how cool the magic system is.

Abiotic Factor (Early Access)

Best survival game I've played in years. Blends survival-crafting elements with a Half-Life 1 aesthetic, immersive sim gameplay elements, and Dark Souls 1 style (fully handcrafted) level design. Looking forward to the full release!

Sinners (2025)

Just watched this movie completely blind with some friends who wanted to see it. Was NOT expecting it to be a vampire movie, but it was very, very good. It is weird how much vampire-related media I've been consuming though...

Vampire Hunter D (1985)

I learned recently that this IP was a big inspiration for Castlevania (especially post SoTN) so I had to give the classic movie to watch as my first exposure. This movie is WEIRD, but also pretty fucking awesome. You can definitely see how D inspired Alucard.

Invincible (Seasons 1-3)

Finally watched this one, probably the best superhero show I've ever seen. Absolute peak.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Just gave this a rewatch since some friends of mine were watching it. Was my favorite Star Wars movie when I saw it in the theater 9 years ago and it still is now. Probably the best movie to come out of the Disney Star Wars era. The Vader scene alone is absolute peak.

A Minecraft Movie

It sure was a Minecraft movie.

Probably 3/10 movie, but 10/10 theater experience. Make sure to watch this one with friends.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Played 50+ hours, beaten every monster (currently) in the game. Arguably the best feeling action game combat period, and the story was pretty good too. Although the endgame is currently a bit lacking, doesn't feel quite as meaty as other entries. Eagerly awaiting more updates!

Balatro

I actually beat a run of Balatro for the first time just a few days ago, and my life has been downhill since then. This game has consumed me. The "just one more run" mentality is real with this one.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

To put it bluntly, this game FUCKS. Most issues I had with NG1 aren't present here, and the result is probably one of the best hack and slash games I've ever played. I will definitely be revisiting this one to play it again on Master Ninja.

Pokémon Yellow Legacy

I've been playing this on and off on a retro emulation device for a bit, just finished it. This hack does a lot of small things to make the gen 1 experience better while still keeping its core identity. Probably my favorite way to play gen 1 now!

FlyKnight

A very short, but incredibly charming little indie game. Absolutely worth the $5 or $6 you'll spend on it. Played it with friends and had an total blast. The fact that this game has a better co-op system than almost any modern RPG is insane. Make sure to check out the dev @wabbaboy.dev!

UPDATE: Game has been completed! Unfortunately I had to discover "Ninja Dog" difficulty in order to do so :/

My normal mode save before the final boss is still there, but I'm mostly glad I got to see the end of the game. Will take a short break and try NG2 Black soon!
February 7, 2025 at 12:57 AM
While not keeping multiple saves was my mistake, it does suck that there is NO way to replenish items on the final level. There were a few similar design decisions throughout the game that bothered me a bit too. I'll update this when I either beat the game or move on to Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. (3/3)
February 6, 2025 at 9:53 PM
So to start off, I technically still haven't beaten the game. I'm around 18 hours deep, and I'm currently softlocked on the final level/boss. I played the game blind and did not know that I had reached the point of no return and accidentally saved.
(2/3 I lied sorry)

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

First time playing a Ninja Gaiden game. I would have played NG Black instead of Sigma but this was the most easily accessible on PC. I overall really liked it, but it had some glaring flaws that are a product of its time.

Nosferatu (2024)

Freaky ahh vampire. Jokes aside, really good take on a classic vampire story. Great atmosphere and direction.

Doom (2016)

I've owned this game for a long time but only got around to doing a full playthrough in the past couple days. About as solid as a boomer shooter can get. Will be playing Eternal at some point before Dark Ages comes out! Rip and tear.

Getting a CRT monitor to play retro games on would be pretty cool. Don't know too much about them though, anyone know a good cheap-ish option that would play nicely with a modern PC?
