Trying to commute less these days.

DMs turned off because of the UK censors.
Third-place party says what now?

The Norwegians have one:

The converse is false, though. Not all typography nerds are Nazis. Some of us were just exposed to TeX and Metafont at an impressionable age.

And powergenitalia, now sadly defunct.

Don't worry - I am sure that the Ukrainians are now quite aware that the Irish have form for inviting armed foreign belligerents to visit.
December 6, 2025 at 9:33 AM
Oh yes, the RAF patrols over there with the agreement of the Irish government, which doesn't have much of an air force itself. But Dublin is the capital of a proper independent country and not a part of the UK.

Dublin has been outside the UK since 1922.

It's traditional to begin by sending troops into Kinsale.

(Other opinions are available. But those two in particular seem to be a more popular combo than would be expected by a logician.)

I'm not old enough to remember the British invasion of Albania that caused all the refugees. Perhaps you remember it more clearly?

General Gordon has blocked me, so I'm going to miss out on his plans to "intervene" in Khartoum.

Which do you want? UK intervention in Sudan to reduce genocide, or the UK deciding not to use what remains of its influence abroad?

To answer the original question, most British people can tell the difference between "UK anti-trafficking policy has flaws" and "we are bombing Tirana".

Depends where the boat people come from. With Afghanistan and Iraq, it sounds superficially plausible. Maybe even Pakistan at a pinch. But Sudan, Eritrea, Bangladesh, Vietnam? Why Albania and not Sierra Leone?
December 4, 2025 at 7:36 PM
Probably not. Outside Dulwich, anyway.
December 4, 2025 at 5:54 PM
I remember seeing a few minutes of it as a kid. The racism went right over my head, but it was grim stuff anyway, even by the standards of 1970s TV. I can't believe anyone under 60 enjoyed it.

I don't think it's particularly inevitable. The Mothers' Union has been mixed-sex for years and the sky hasn't fallen in.

A professional centralised admin department would be vastly better than 650 mini offices staffed by MPs' relatives.
December 3, 2025 at 6:55 PM
Good luck keeping that. GG policy is now being set by well-funded and litigious people who are *very* interested in how children present themselves. You really think they will stop here?
December 2, 2025 at 6:36 PM
You just need to find one of these:
December 2, 2025 at 7:35 AM
That's really unfair. Labour has many slogans. What about "we want to hunt trans teenagers with hounds", "if women don't look like Taylor Swift the state should ban them from the loos", and "no, you can't read your DMs, and you are Literally Jimmy Savile for wanting to do that"?

"The NHS Dentistry Rescue Plan will, on average, give everyone an extra appointment once a century"
December 1, 2025 at 4:16 PM
I don't accept that morality demands that I have no minimum standards, even for politicians. But if at the next election any of the major parties here is honest enough to campaign with "Vote for us for the second-worst possible outcome", then I promise I will consider it.
