Like, this is applying the lowest possible standard here: I’m not even asking the US press to manage the impossible task of caring about the millions of poor people around the world being killed or having their lives ruined; they can’t even manage to judge it as a political win/lose story

it says something when the current best candidates are "woke hedge fund billionaire" and "Biden's slightly nondescript HHS guy"

sucks that Burgos isn't in office, but its a good omen I woukd say at least that there's def an appetite here for better things

conversely, its starting to become clear that if you're not Becerra or Porter, realistically there's gonna be no way up

pressure is going to be mounting as March draws near for people to draw out. that and a lot of these candidates are just going to flat out get at most, like 4%

like I would be extremely surprised if folks like Thurmond, Calderon, Yee, etc are still in the race by the time March rolls around

Villaraigosa is going to absolutely flame out and, as much as I like him, Steyer is likely gonna go nowhere

which realistically, leaves just Porter and Becerra

its also a half year before the primaries start and a good chunk of the current people running are gonna drop out

(we also have this convo every year about a possible lockout and it never happens)
