4/ In particular, the amount of, and increase in, transphobic tweets is very concerning. The analyses of Twitter data suggest that these kinds of tweets appear parts of organized campaigns.

3/ Twitter has since seen a spike in hate speech that's been documented in papers (see below) but also is consistent with our experience when using the SGM SIG account.

Most of this hate speech is racist, homophobic, or transphobic..

2/ Twitter had historically been a good place to share information. Over the past year and a half, since Elon Musk purchased it, there has been a mass exodus of academics. Unclear how successful it has been arxiv.org/html/2406.04...

But, that's not the reason we are leaving.

3/ I also wanted to call special attention to a panel discussion that will happen *right before* the SIG meeting with several of our members. The discussion features people across career stages discussing the challenges and opportunities in different generational perspectives on SGM mental health.
