🐜 Meet the Velvety Black-Tyrant, Brazil’s endemic insect hunter!
Glossy black with red eyes, they snatch insects midair or from leaves. Females lead nesting while males guard & feed chicks. Populations are stable, but face habitat loss.

‼️ Hawaiʻi County has passed Bill 51, banning feeding of feral & stray animals on public lands starting Jan 1, 2026.

🔴 This protects fragile ecosystems + endangered birds like the Nēnē (fewer than 4,000 left), ‘Alae ke‘oke‘o, and ‘Ua‘u.
