Every congressman named Bill Foster voted with Republicans to increase funding to the fascist goon squad that's executing citizens in the streets. So maybe take some time for introspection and then resign in disgrace.

A touch too polished for that. But on the other hand I'm also able to give them a Blues Brothers-esque "magic happens when the curtain rises that defies all rational explanation" handwave because everything else felt right.

Sabrina Carpenter was a perfect guest star. Funny and campy and at ease.

I loved it. My biggest complaint was that some of the "on stage" bits felt a little too fancy and over-produced. It's always felt like a practically-broke troop of performers in a run down theater doing their best with not much to keep a dying art form alive, and a few of the numbers just felt

I hope, deep in my heart, that we never learn an unkind thing about Tom and Ray Magliozzi (the CarTalk guys). It's been a decade + since I've really engaged with any of their archive (RIP Tommy) but any revelations would hit me hard in light of their jovial on-air personalities.

It varies year to year, but maybe 40-50 of these cultural centers do nightly events, often featuring food, drinks, performances (often music and dancing). The event runs for two weeks, with half the pavilions running on week one, and the other half on two. It's a city-wide multicultural party.

Winnipeg has one of the neatest traditions I've come across in my travels. The city has "(country) cultural centers" spread around, that give new immigrants from that country/region a community to belong to from day one, and help adapting to life in Canada. And in the summer, they hold Folklorama

We would typically leave off "floppy" if referring to a specific piece of software, eg "do you have a Ghost disk I could borrow?" or "Hand me that stack of Windows install disks, please?"

But if you were talking about a disk with some generic personal stuff, or a blank disk, floppy was fine.

"You could back up your whole hard drive on a floppy diskette, you're the biggest joke on the Internet" -Weird Al, All About the Pentiums

As a high school nerd at the time, you could use "floppy", "disk" or "floppy disk" pretty much interchangeably as long as context indicated a removable disk.

And even if we had to pay for every electron for the car, we can drive the EV about 117 miles for the same price as one gallon of gas, currently.

Bought an EV to use as our primary vehicle and installed solar panels. We couldn't quite fit enough panels to cover all of our energy usage, but we get about 70-80% of our total yearly electricity use from solar. It feels like cheating.

I always loved that they took the time to put a little motion into the candle flames, and even melted wax down the candelabra. Just a little bit of set dressing that someone had to put a little effort into, to just help it feel a little more "right"

Spending less time scrolling on social media lately has given me more time to practice guitar and read books. That's pretty awesome.

And when I do spend a little time online, I'm trying to engage more with things like this, and not the rage-bait that most sites push on you. That's pretty great too

Just FYI, it just hit the news today that Tolly Ho is closing Wednesday. I haven't been since they moved to the current location, but it still feels like losing an old friend, even if we drifted apart over the years...

I left my Calculus 2 final fully expecting to have failed, but ended up with a C. I did manage to avoid any Fs through judicious use of withdrawing from classes before the deadline, though.

Yeah, Two Keys was pretty recent, earlier this year I think. I don't get down that way very much any more, except for an occasional trip to CD Central, which is back under the old Cut Corner Records name now, or to pop into Sqecial. Pretty much everything else from back in my day is gone.
