Been in the works for a while, but delighted it's finally out in the world, especially in the current political environment. I contributed an essay on the demonization of migrants in early modern England, a phenomenon that bears dispiriting similarities to our time.

Not without its problematic assumptions and methodological decisions, but this paper does innovative things with multiple complex datasets - from metadata, to survey responses, to audio recordings.

Highly accomplished woman passionately conducts Orchestre de Paris and connects with the musicians in an exciting performance of Dvorak 9. So, of course, some asshole needs to crawl out of the woodwork to gatekeep the bastion of staid white maleness that is #ClassicalMusic.

Kidding aside, this is surely an artifact of which journals they had available for indexing. I need to play around with this more, but exploring co-mentions is a great way to find interesting stuff. Here, for example, is Husserl and Wittgenstein.

This is a great #dh project [with the standard caveat that when they say #philosophy, they mean WESTERN philosophy - which is fine, but I'd like the qualifier]. Collects mentions of philosophers from a century of journal articles and uses it to find relationships between philosophers.

Looking forward to this volume. I have an essay in it on the criminalization of early modern migrants.

Rousing kirtan rendition of Jayadeva's Gitagovinda by Anathbandhu Ghosh. It's a pastoral - a bit like the Shepheardes Calendar - but if Colin Clout were the Lord of the Universe himself. Barbara Stoler Miller translates the poem from the Sanskrit as "Love Song of the Dark Lord."
