watching the clock tick closer to 90 mins but knowing extra time beckons and not a guaranteed replay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Tamsworth is a soulless experience

@footballcliches.bsky.social commentator for Manchester City vs. Salford has just said “really good advantage played by Smith”.

Is this a new trend of referring to referees by surname as is done with most players, and if not, what is the correct form of address? Full name, or perhaps “Referee X?”

The worry for Manchester City is that if there’s one team outside the top six that you don’t want to drop deep and frustrate you to see the match, it’s Sean Dyche’s Everton.

In future years, I really do think we’ll remember Jordan Pickford as one of the great characters of this era of English football.

Forest looking very Aston Villa 08-10?

Wood is Carew, CHO and Elanga are Young and Downing, Milenković and Murillo are Laursen and Mellberg.

Grizzly in defence, excellent on the counter, good at set pieces

Roy Keane speaks in hyperbolic sound bites for entertainment, but one valid point he alluded to is that Ruben Amorim may have underestimated how little consistent quality there is in this Manchester United squad.

I saw Gladiator II tonight - absolutely appalled that there was a portrayal of Romans playing football in 184AD. Of all the historical inaccuracy, this was the most egregious.

They appeared to be in a back four.

Apparently Juanma Lillo is being cast in the third part, coaching the Romans 4-2-3-1

So much hard work from Southampton in the first thirty minutes. All undone through absolute naivety.

They are in desperate need of an internal watchdog that asks “is this scenario appropriate to try and play out from, and if not what are my other options?”
