Yeah! Those streets are brutal.

Maybe the problem is I'm not sprinting over them?

yo! I got one from pretty close to that angle, too.

I rode to the gym and it was high, rode back a couple hours later and it was a foot higher.

Spooky to have that much water moving where it's not supposed to.

"cured of the desire [to experience joy]" is a phenomenal take.

feels like it sees the human need to entertain and be entertained, together with other people, as a disease. oof.

So Cuomo ran the classic "everyone else but me sucks" campaign while the others ran more inclusive and cooperative campaigns.

Also, Cuomo lost in spite of support from the outsider-billionaire donor class and they lost again, which many consider to be a promising sign.

This way of voting means that a less popular third flavor like pistachio can't win because the two more popular flavors split votes between them.

An interesting effect is that candidates could cross-promote instead of relying exclusively on tearing each other down.

"top-n" is not very ELI5 of me.

Instead of asking everyone at the birthday party, "which ice cream is best?", they asked "what are the 3 best ice creams?"

This meant that someone who likes chocolate and vanilla could mark them both down instead of having to pick one.

Big difference from the elections we're used to is it was a ranked choice ballot rather than the more traditional first-past-the-post.

Voters listed their top-n choices ordered by preference and rank is awarded to candidates based on how they appear across all ballots.

At this point, I believe the suggestion that "we're replacing people with AI" is cover for financial trouble and quiet layoffs.

There's a meta-narrative / feedback loop that makes it both a safe public statement and a profitable marketing claim.

"We are an AI company now! (please clap)"
