political capital has nothing to do with democracy, it's about having people who will do what you ask them to without having to be explicitly manipulated into it every last time

the idea of vance becoming president is quite scary because of his extremism, but it is somewhat tempered by the fact that there are like ten people in the world who don't hate vance and so he has zero political capital and will be inevitably entirely ineffective

right leaning racist white people anywhere are all about the same, it's just that in the northeast you have a lot more white people who aren't and it both skews the average and forces the racist white people to be more careful about showing it too much so it's just less obvious
