Boop was a definite miss

I remember Acosta screaming at Boop with his hands in the air quite a lot. Off field issues aside, Boop, and every other forward we’ve brought in, have struggled to adapt. Blame Albright if you want. I think Evander on the way in is more effective than Acosta on the way out. Rip off the band-aid.

But the question is, is Lucho here to play? Like, for real… not just saying it, but doing it. For the entire season? I don’t think he is. Boop was a bust, and Albright shares in that responsibility. But so does the team captain. Then Albright went out and signed Denke, who lots of big clubs wanted

Lucho attacked Albright last week with the statement he gave Laurel. Out of all the attacking players you mentioned who have not done well, the common thread I see is the person playing behind them. Will Denke be a bust this year? I hate to say it, but it may depend on the person playing behind him.

Orellano was great last year. Kubo was good at forward a few games, plus Busca had several goal contributions. And we’ve brought in Denke. And after all of that, he attacked Albright. I don’t think Lucho is the player that we all want him to be. At his best, El Magico. At his worst, El Diablo.

All good points. I go back to “as Lucho goes, so goes FCC.” Evander is not without risk, but if we are honest, Lucho has a ton of risk too. I think we can look back over the past three seasons and find times when Lucho was an Achilles heal. As much as Lucho gives, his attitude takes away more.

Agreed, there will be an adjustment period. I’m confident Evander will be able to press, even if some of the queues are new to him

We all loved watching Lucho play, but it’s clear now that when he’s not happy, the team doesn’t do well. Why did it take Brenner so long to adjust? Was it really Boop that didn’t fit in? Is it actually Baird’s fault he under-performed? There is a clear pattern of new attacking players not fitting in

I agree with most of what you said, but Denke and Evander will create on their own early. 2025 will be a slow start, but we should be in contention for the shield. Plus heading into to ‘26, we’re in a solid position. Lucho’s attitude gets us the same for ‘25, but a hole going into ‘26.

I don’t trust him anymore. I don’t see see how Albright does either. Acosta just threw the dude under the bus. A better-than-average 10 that plays consistently will produce better results than a hit-or-miss Acosta, imho. Cards are all out on the table now, it’s time to move on
