An economy based on profits while the world burns is an inherently defective economy. Your primary complaint about the USSR seems to be that it had orders of magnitude less inequality than capitalism. I'll take that.

It's a fact that socialist countries are consistently over represented relative to capitalist countries, when it comes to things like life expectancy, infant mortality, access to health care etc

The "vast difference" was not "12 guys hold as much wealth as the rest of the population". Not even close. The inequality in the US is *orders of magnitude* bigger.
