Judge Perez Drive is a major, four-lane thoroughfare located in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. The road was originally named Goodchildren Drive, but was renamed in November 1969 for former political boss of St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes, Judge Leander Perez (died March 1969). However, in the late 1990s, St. Bernard officials chose to distance themselves from Leander Perez's segregationist legacy. They dedicated Judge Perez Drive to the memory of Melvyn Perez, a long-time judge in St. Bernard—thus distancing the Parish from Leander Perez's controversial legacy without the expense of changing the signs labeled "Judge Perez Drive". However, the term "Judge Perez" is still most frequently associated with Leander Perez in the area.

At a Jan. 1 news conference, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick noted emphatically that Jabbar had driven his truck up on the sidewalk, claiming he “got around the hard target, where we had a car there, we had barriers there.” Surveillance video from the outside of the Krystal restaurant at 116 Bourbon St., 150 feet from Canal Street, shows that while Jabbar did indeed squeeze around a NOPD vehicle by steering onto the sidewalk, he then drove directly over the lowered MP5000 gate. “We knew that [gate] had malfunction problems,” the police chief said. “And I want you to understand, let’s say we put the wedge up and it got stuck. There is no way that an ambulance could get in or out. People couldn’t get in and out. So we knew that these were malfunctioning.” The Illuminator reached Delta Scientific a day after the attack. Keith Bobosky, president of Delta Scientific, said in a statement he “has reached out to the city to investigate the condition and operability of the vehicle barriers on site in New Orleans,” and said local officials have never contacted his company about any problems with the unit. In response to subsequent questions from the Illuminator, Brobosky said the gate can be raised and lowered even when it’s malfunctioning.

You eat 0.08 tons/mo. 2 million Gazans would eat 167k tons/month. Even at 100% efficiency, May aid only met 70% of that. Which, sure, not everyone needs to eat like an American. But if people need 167k tons of food in May, why is 25k tons in October adequate? That's only 15% of what you get to eat.
