Parliament probably couldn't function with 343 Erskine-Smiths.
But I'm not sure why each party couldn't have one or two Erskine-Smiths. Or why more MPs could periodically act like that.
(Brent Rathgeber was the pre-Erskine-Smith model of maverickness. The Conservatives eventually pushed him out.)
