Innovation necessarily leads to reduced labor requirements for the same output; however, the question is who benefits from that. The answer is whoever has the power, but we can change the balance of power through collective action so that the benefits are shared with those who helped innovate.

Yes, they don’t protect your jobs they balance power so that employers have a harder time taking advantage of employees. It’s not everything but it is much much more than just a useful feature. Coming from Germany you may take for granted labor conditions that you have due to unions.

Most importantly here is going to something where laws and unions protect your job. Without a check on companies they will always consolidate power and use it to take advantage of labor (you). The problem isn’t tech, the problem is a misbalance of power.

Try congestion pricing it may give you the results you desire through simple market forces.

Honestly, our system would work better by orders of magnitude if:

1) We got money out of it
2) Went to ranked choice voting
3) Had stronger support for unions

Change the balance of power, and suddenly the system works better for all.

Small potatoes compared to what they stole in health care and food from needy children. They steal your lunch, give you a cookie back, and tell you to say thank you.

Looks like Van Epps won but this race being close means something big is happening.

Even with obvious rulings you never know what this Supreme Court will do. I believe they see the wind shifting and will hopefully make the right decision even if for the wrong reasons.

Even though I completely agree that the president should not be using this language, this should not be a talking point. Many people voted for him BECAUSE he normalized this. No one is changing their minds over this, and hammering it may solidify the stance of those who would otherwise be movable

Mediocre is overselling it by quite a bit

It’s not even about that, it’s about trying to keep the base angry at “the other” and not looking who is actually causing the problems

This shit alone should push people in the other direction, when you can’t make an argument and have to resort to foul play to win you don’t deserve it. “If you’re not cheating you’re not trying” does not belong in politics.
November 26, 2025 at 3:55 PM
You’re not wrong, but we currently live in a system where you have to choose. Fight to change that system so we can get better representation, but before that day comes we have to choose between bad or worse. Not voting for someone is the same as voting for the other person in our system.

As much as I agree this could have been a little more frank, they do make these points in the article. NPR is one of the few news sources that hasn’t become inflammatory for views and I respect that even if I think they’re too soft sometimes.

Amazon’s only profitable because of AWS, even if you’re not buying anything online you’re going to sites that use AWS which may make money through showing you ADs for instance. Hard to escape.

Best thing you can do with these posts is to not engage. (Yes, I realize the irony of this reply)

You’ve gotta remember he’s talking to his base who will believe anything he says without looking deeper, and if they do they’ll somehow have an excuse for it. The cognitive dissonance is strong.

Donald could release them right now, the vote from congress and senate just force him to. He could have released them in January when Pam Bondi said they were on her desk. He not only hasn’t released them he’s pressured Rs in congress to vote to not release them. Check your facts.

We can, we have to fight. Sometimes when the pendulum swings back from something like this it swings back hard.
