I will always be proud of the work that we at @siliconsasquatch.com put into Game of the Year, consistently, over the last decade and a half. No doubt we make it to year 20. Beyond that? I’m planning to do these until I’m dust. (This year’s header by yours truly.)
Welcome to the 2024 Silicon Sasquatch Game of the Year Awards! 🏆

This is our fifteenth annual feature on the best and most noteworthy games of the year. We do it because we believe thoughtful criticism is a good and important thing and because we want to help more people engage with the medium.

Gem Room Games was founded in Los Angeles. We love it deeply.

So we're putting our whole @itch.io catalog on sale, 25% off for the rest of January, to raise some funds to support relief efforts from these horrific fires.

Whether as a bundle or individual games, 100% of every $ spent goes to help.

At the age of 37, my rubric for shortlisting GOTY candidates is thus: Do I start falling asleep while playing?

Has anyone already overlayed the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme with the footage of McConnell (probably) shitting his pants today?

Parents know: The most dangerous drinking game is watching multiple Sesames but doing a shot every time Hailee Steinfeld’s song shows up. Many have perished from the overuse of this banger.

Every time I visit the bay area, I feel like a prophet witnessing the next era of elitist trends priming themselves for inevitable descent upon Portland.

Realistically, most people who aren’t Internet Personalities have the same experience on every social media platform: shouting non-sequiturs into the void until one post about Barbenheimer breaks big while simultaneously forcing them into hiding.

My employer is enacting mandatory RTO in a couple months. I have many, many (mostly rabid, watchlist-adjacent) thoughts about this. And yet, the greatest violence they’re committing upon my personage is causing me to buy khakis after almost 4 years.

In-laws *begging* us not to spoil Oppenheimer. Do I have the heart to tell them about a period of history they mostly lived through?

I make zero commitments to the quality and quantity of my posts on BlueSky. But I’m really quite pleased to jettison Elmo’s Xperiment.
