Seriously, though, this segment bears a striking resemblance to what you would get from early neural language models: amazing if you had ever tried to generate something comprehensible from even a large-context n-gram model, but otherwise mostly garbage once you got beyond a couple sentences.

Some of them at least.

Really felt this today as I spent like 30 minutes just trying to figure out how to download student assignments in bulk. How much do universities spend in time lost to the shitty tools they contract to use?

Like, whenever some overpaid consultant figures out how to sell the anti-AI/pro-human strategic plan to fancy universities as a way to distinguish themselves from the hoi polloi, they are going to be hailed as a genius.

I like to read this as habitual rather than episodic, with the corresponding change in word sense.

Also get to introduce them to the logit-normal, which I sort of love as a prior. So much nicer to work with than betas.

There was a whole thing on r/rochester a while back where people pointed out how laughable it is to bundle WNY into the same cultural region as the Adirondacks. It's a bit like drawing a straight line across CA at Santa Barbara and calling it all "socal". The creator ended up updating the map.
