Dad, organizer, lawyer working to hold Big Oil companies accountable for their climate crimes. Opinions my own.
FYI these are Senate Democrats' internal rules. I can think of one Senate Minority Leader in particular who has earned an expulsion from the Conference.

Has there ever been a man who’s failed to meet the moment more than Chuck Schumer? Relentlessly, incessantly, unstoppably wrong at every turn, Schumer is going to go down in history as the worst Dem legislative leader in modern times, and it’s not even particularly close.

Do pundits like Ezra Klein realize how dangerous what they’re doing is? They are helping MAGA construct what George Orwell described as a nightmare world, a world where MAGA controls not only the future, but the past. This prospect should, indeed, frighten us more than bombs.

Grateful for the courage of someone like Misti Leon, who is fighting to hold Big Oil accountable for the death of her mother in a climate disaster that would have been "virtually impossible" but for Big Oil's conduct.

From NYTimes. We have a word for people that cause the death of millions. Mass murderers. Looking at you, Big Oil CEOs.

Rightwing Christian preachers condemn anything related to consensual same sex love or women’s bodily autonomy as devil worship. Meanwhile I’ve never heard a single word from them on AI. I guess if it’s profitable for billionaires, even the tools of literal devil worship are okay.

New piece about the failure of so many centrist Dems to rally around Zohran, illustrating an underrecognized dynamic in Dem politics: It's actually the party’s centrist establishment, not its progressive wing, that’s most likely to violate the maxim of “Vote Blue No Matter Who.” t.co/hZaQPdH0UV

I imagine I'm not the only one feeling more than a little despair, following the Senate's passage of the worst piece of legislation in American history. So I wrote a bit about how we might think about hope in such despairing times. aaronregunberg.substack.com/p/fighting-d...

The War Powers Resolutions from @rokhanna.bsky.social +
@kaine.senate.gov will create the next “it’s about judgment, unlike my opponent I did not support the Iraq War” line that Obama eviscerated Clinton with in 2008. If you want a future in Dem politics, you want to be on the right side of this.

God damn it, I've started a Substack.

I wrote about the wrongful death suit against Big Oil filed last week by Misti Leon, whose mother, Julie Leon, was killed in the Pacific NW Heat Dome, a lethal disaster that scientists have concluded would have been “virtually impossible” but for climate change. newrepublic.com/article/1959...

It’s important to treat administration members like the monsters they are. I went to law school with the DOGE minion Musk installed at USAID. He doesn’t deserve a moment’s peace. None of them do. If nothing else, we should impose social consequences wherever they are reachable.

Just indescribably embarrassing for firms like Paul Weiss that rolled over for Trump. We knew they were fascist-pleasing cowards, but — more to the point, professionally — the evidence continues to pile up that they’re absolutely dogshit lawyers!

This isn’t complicated. If it feels complicated to you, you have a serious problem — a problem you’re better than, about which I encourage you to do some intense introspection.

World, say hello to Lev Francis Regunberg! Born April 29, 2025. Even though you arrived six weeks early, you’re already proving you can’t be stopped. Thanks to the incredible staff at Women and Infants Hospital, especially all the NICU nurses we’ll be spending so much time with. Lev, we love you!

Absurd. Even if his strategic leadership were spot-on — rather than, you know, completely divorced from our current reality — it would be unforgivable egoism to not step aside when it’s so objectively clear you’re dragging the party down. What’s wrong with these narcissists?

Reminder -- this is what opposition parties can do when a president tries to overturn a country's democracy. Trump is openly defying a 9-0 Supreme Court order. What the fuck are you doing, @schumer.senate.gov?
April 14, 2025 at 11:25 PM
It's been hours since Trump said he'd defy a 9-0 Supreme Court order, and Schumer - who said defying SCOTUS was his red line aftering voting for Trump's budget - still hasn't even posted about it, let alone announced a plan for how Dems will respond to this lawlessness! WTF
April 14, 2025 at 8:42 PM
By repeatedly ensuring the rich and powerful avoid accountability for their crimes, Big Law was already perverting the rule of law, even before making deals with Trump. Their project of corporate lawlessness paved the way for Trump in the first place.
