… uses California as an example. Gov Schwarzenegger would like a word with you. (For better or worse.)
Again, City Councilmember #FrankMorano just wants Republicans to have a guaranteed spot in a general rather than forcing them to win citywide with ideas. Party machines all the way.

I’m glad to hear the commissioners aren’t buying @bradlander.bsky.social’s argument. He’s making a specious argument and sounds like he’s defending the Machine and not choosing for good election practice in the current context.

Do you think that a general election in 2021 of Adams vs would have automatically led to an Adams administration. You are being incredibly myopic, short-sighted, and losing all context about politics in NYC, which is not exactly the same as the “American context.” @bradlander.bsky.social

the number of votes of what the democratic candidate requires. When the Democratic Party is such a huge majority such as in this city, having closed primaries like this is counterproductive, and frankly, it led to Adams as mayor.

And you ask what’s the point of having political parties? They can broadcast a message louder, but essentially you’re saying that the most money should have the most ballot access? Because otherwise, why should an NYC Republican candidate have the same general election access by getting 10% …

Defending it because it’s been how we do politics in this country is irrelevant. What if ranked choice voting led to a final two of Lander vs Mamdani and we could choose between you two and not give Curtis Sliwa such a chance. This is absurd. @bradlander.bsky.social

You are wrong Mr Comptroller. The parties in NYC that lead to non-Democratic candidates having a chance in the general … screw the parties in an environment where the 70ish% of registered voters belong to one party. Why not have the two top votegetters? Like they do in CA?

I don’t know. This seems to track with Cod Liver Oil rather than vaccine.
