Because the market-makers were delta-hedging the options volume flowing into the call options buy buying insane amounts of stock.

I'm going to begin posting these screenshots of Call Options by way of example, for people to understand the leverage these instruments offer, and the opportunity extreme news presents. Some people know how to trade this; most people don't.
