Here’s a thing or two to do for (the other) Labor Day Weekend:

1) Get Kim Kelly’s book “Fight to Win: Heroes of American Labor” as a gift for the young readers in your life: www.kim-kelly.com/booksnmerch

2) Support Labor-Left journalism by subbing to Kim’s Patreon

I wrote an article for Counterpunch about the Right in US History—specifically from a century ago. Features here include the KKK, a mayoral coup, businessmen vigilantes, and the Congressman whose name is atop the 1924 immigration restriction law—Albert Johnson

Woohoo! Look what came in the mail today. At long last, decades after I started my study of community and radicalism in Grays Harbor, “Red Harbor” is here.

Big thanks to the @uwapress.bsky.social and the coolest book blurbers around.

I don’t know if this is a good place to advertise Washington State History Museum events.

But I see that they are hosting something called “Red Harbor” on Saturday, September 13, for the annual Fenbert “Challenging History” event. I think that means me…in Tacoma, at the History Museum: 5:30 pm.

According to Microsoft, the second job to be replaced by AI will be historians

Which reminds me of when the most Microsoft-connected state governor in history took a tour of the Washington State Library and proclaimed to the workers: “You’d all better learn to code pretty quickly.”
