Are you on a VPN, or being routed through a large organization's (like a university's) network? If so, then the stream of traffic occasionally looks like it's hammering away from a single IP/gateway. That tends to trigger things like captchas more.

I'm embarrassed to own (not a car, but) a Tesla powerwall (battery) to accompany our solar panel installation back in 2020. But I vow to never spend another cent enriching that twerp.

About 15 years ago, folks across the entire company protested this "ask me later" pattern and the CEO (Larry, at the time) actually acknowledged it was bad, and reverted it in the products it was in. Since then the McKenzie-ization of the company has proceeded apace.

Shittiness ensued.

I feel like the reason we've been building poor products with this tech is that we mistake "statistical fit" for objective fact and intent, that are essential for products onto which this tech has been bolted.
