Are you in the Apple ecosphere and want to leave? I did and here's what I did. I turned off iMessage and purchased a OnePlus 12. I switched to Whatsapp for messaging and video calls. I use my Synology NAS for photo storage. All my other apps had Android versions. OnePlus makes Android feel like iOS.

It is unlikely that everything one person says is bad. Even Trump says things that make sense on occasion. Researching the person you're vilifying before attacking them. Did Charlie Kirk say some positive things? I never heard the positive side of his speeches because the negative was aimed at me.

My condolences go out to Charlie Kirk's family. While I did not agree with Charlie philosophically, I never wished death on him. Now his family must continue through life without a husband and father. Political violence is never the answer.

I am 2/3rds done with my visa application. Fingers crossed, a couple of months later, I will be on my way out of this shithole country. I must leave friends, family, and home behind. It must have been hard when my ancestors came over from Cork, Ireland. They are probably quite sad seeing us return.

There is an employment scam going around right now. It promises big money to be a travel agent working from home. After a 90 minute introduction, you will be advised you need a special "certification". Once you buy that $97 "certification", you will have a job! No interview, no W2 forms. PURE SCAM.

Don't trust AI? That's fine. If you need to trust AI, you're using it the wrong way. I use it to organize documents, extract data from unstructured text, filter emails to different departments, and coach me on learning the Kotlin programming language. These things won't kill me if AI makes a booboo.

My father, whose 77th birthday is tomorrow, worked in military intelligence. I have a crazy memory and specifically remember him warning me about gov't propaganda... when I was around 4 years old. I didn't know what it meant at the time. Now, he's a hard-core MAGAt. He didn't heed his own warning.

I haven't said this enough today: Fuck Dennis Prager and PragerU. If they think they're going to push PBS aside to provide "learning" content to students, they're going to see a tremendous push back from parents. Their content is barely-masked right-wing propaganda. Fossil fuels are good? Fuck them.

#ChatGPT and GPT-5 is not a miracle fix for all that ails AI. A short "conversation" with ChatGPT this morning provided a clear hallucination. When asked about the hallucination, it was able to piece together what happened, which is nice, but not nice that it still happened.
