Let's try this again: extra-judicial, likely illegal, definitely immoral, executions.

For sure. Or they could negotiate with the hotels and trains for a flat fee per changed match and pay that so the costs don't get passed along to the fans.

Sorry, I’m not sure which you think from that answer, probably because I’m pre-coffee. Was it a true breakaway / defection or an overall strategy change?
November 10, 2025 at 12:41 PM
Do you believe it was specifically them who caved rather than a collective decision?

The fact that none of them are up for reelection for years seem to suggest they were just providing cover for an overall change in strategy.

And I get that people are tired of it and not motivated to vote for them, but someone has to protect our neighbors, particularly in light of our knowledge that the Democrats may not do so to the extent we'd like to see.
November 10, 2025 at 12:17 PM
I guess my position and point is that as much as the establishment Democrats may suck and as much as we may want better from them, this is FAR too much suffering than appropriate to teach them a lesson.

The best part about leaves is that when you rake them, the winds come overnight, and you have more to rake the next day.

Screw the Ents. Saruman had it right.

But we can only control / influence some things and some people. Did we do our best with that? Did people make the right call?

I dunno, man.
November 10, 2025 at 4:39 AM
And again, just so we don’t have any confusion: all this shit is squarely in the laps of the people who voted for it and the people carrying it out.

I fully recognize that and I will not ever forget it nor will I forgive it without monumental steps taken to undue the damage.
November 10, 2025 at 4:38 AM
Or you avoid this all together and don’t create the circumstances for everything that has happened in the last year.

At the very least, you try. You hold your nose and accept the demonstrably, incontrovertibly less shitty of two options.

You don’t throw your hands up at it.
November 10, 2025 at 4:25 AM
Was trying to teach the Dems a lesson about putting up “better” candidates really worth the suffering? That’s an oversimplification, but w/e.

Like, people are dying and more will die. Lives will be ruined by medical debt / untreated preventable disease. Families are being literally ripped apart.
November 10, 2025 at 4:22 AM
Maybe it wouldn’t have mattered anyway, and again, the blame lies with the people who’ve voted for this shit and those who are carrying it out.

But I dunno, it just feels like we had a chance to avoid this and we missed it to gain…really nothing that I can discern.
November 10, 2025 at 4:18 AM
Things would still be far from perfect but it wouldn’t be nearly as bad.

And yeah, you’re entitled to vote your conscience. Kamala’s refusal to take a stronger stance against Palestinian genocide was an issue. She wasn’t a perfect candidate.

But, like, it has to be better than this.

Sports fans can sometimes struggle to hold multiple ideas at the same time.

Even if your team has a guy you think won’t develop into THE guy (and you think JJ will), you can still cheer for him and hope he does it!

And it feels like some want to be right about a guy more than they want ‘em to win!

Every now and then I say something intelligent. Not too often, but sometimes.

Y’all have been warned!

(Thanks for the rec)
November 9, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Maybe they can put together that kind of run, but I think it’s less likely.

Also, Arsenal just went on a run in the PL where they literally didn’t concede a goal. There’s no reason to think they can’t do something like that again.
November 9, 2025 at 9:00 PM
Yes. I think people also have scars from City hunting Arsenal down twice. This City team, while very good, is not that team. At least I don’t think they’re at that level, yet.
