I’m a parent, a spouse, a progressive, a reader, and a dabbler in Denver, CO. My day job is COO.
Pretty sure the more precise term is “abducts”. Not captures.

I think the “aesthetics NIMBY” is my favorite NIMBY.
I remember the same argument against a bike lane that would defile a beautiful street… lined on both side with fume belching cars. But sure, explain to me how slim cones or a small sign ruins aesthetics, which is more important than safety.

What a fun Denver RTD update to get when checking the schedule minutes before leaving.

But I thought it was just simply neighbors raising concerns? 🙄
After five years of work & community support for a safer street near a local school, an ultra wealthy resident hired a lobbyist & got 100 neighbors to sign on to derail the Denver Alameda Ave safety project.

Shameful DOTI.

But the wall to wall nonstop story from the election told me that Biden’s inflation was horrible and #economicanxietyvoters were so pissed about prices and that’s why they were voting for trump.

Seriously, why are things never framed as gambles for Republicans? They're not gambling here? They're not willing to make any concession and willing to fund a rogue president's government. Seems like not doing ANYTHING to bring any Democratic votes to the table is a "Big Shutdown Gamble"

The Right loves the random store theft or shoplifting video. I wish they cared as much about wage theft crimes as they do about shoplifting crimes.

They love showing vidoes like this. I wish government, and the media, cared as much about corporate wage theft as they care about other types of criminal activity.

This book by Omar El Akkad, truly should be on everyone’s shelf. It’s an essay on violence and oppression, about his lived experience, and a dissection western imperialism and its failings. The closest thing it reminds me of is Ta-Nehisi Coates and Between the World and Me.

Read It.

The media really doesn’t know how to talk about Trump and his actions. They always defer to “President as King” language suggesting he’s just doing the thing, instead of expressing that he has no right or authority to do the thing.

Is there a any sadder group of people than Congressional Republicans? Just pathetic.

I had to ask ChatGPT to rewrite this with the appropriate level of sarcasm and scorn it deserves.

How about we do obsessive 24/7news coverage about how an entire political party & media system glosses over a sitting President continually forgetting names, having crazed senseless rants, & seems to have no idea what his admin is doing while destroying the country?

“Suspected” tornadoes? Did NOAA cuts take away tornado tracking? Or is the media equivocating on this now, too?
May 17, 2025 at 7:32 PM
I think our operating theory of economic policy under trump can only be that it is just a giant insider trading scheme for him and his cronies. There is really no other organizing principle to describe it.

Have to wonder, has any president in history ever intentionally taken a step to do THIS to the markets and economy? on purpose.

I know why trains were built along highways, but there are few less hospitable environs in which to make train riders endure waiting for a train. (avg 84 decibels)
