There have been some intense vortices visible on radar. I wouldn't rule out a spin up with one of these.

This was by far not the most intense substorm of the night but the violet to blue colors were amazing! It was the first time ever, that I saw blue aurora.

Chasing the beast
This supercell produced two tornadoes and severe downbursts in northern Italy back in 2020. We saw the second tornado as it crossed the motorway right in front of us. I took this image about 30 min later as we repositioned. At this time the storm was in its downburst stage.
