“This is not a time to be dismayed. This is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer prepared you for. It is now time to go. You’re a good person. That means more now than ever”
Beautiful day to remember with the community. 🍁

Post a perfect album from 1989, a perfect music year.

Teenaged me loved R.E.M.(still do). Middle aged me loves supporting independent media. My 2025 remix EP of Radio Free Europe, a fundraiser for RFE just arrived today, appropriate timing on a day rife with censorship.

Reason it could polish up the grey”

The whole family was elsewhere tonight so I foraged my own dinner. 🦀😎 #catchlocal #eatlocal

Got to see the new Lochside PIGLETS today! This is legitimately the best news I’ve gotten all week 🎉🐷

Hobbes would like to wish all who celebrate a happy #internationalcatday. We can confirm that he is as much of a creature of leisure as this depicts.

Lovely evening for our Arts Alive public art tour- complete with saxophone and flute serenades to each piece. Best part: majority of folks on the tour rode their bikes (including the sound system!) Almost makes it seem like cycling is a universal activity that fits a vibrant municipality…

Justin, as a guy who takes care of BC parks for a living, I gotta protest this draw 😬

My awesome Nanaimo council colleague Erin Hemmens (who is not on Bluesky as yet), while advocating for active transportation, had a detractor call her “Bike Lane Barbie”. So her supporters said “let’s own that” and got stickers printed. Proud Bike Lane Barbie here!

We had Peter the Peacock hanging around OB Village for quite a few weeks, a year or two back…

Brand new groupset (looks to be the last proper one Shimano will make), and pink bar tape makes for a happy retrogrouch 😎 Now if I can get a new steel fork…

Hidden Gems of Oak Bay continued 😎 Today’s hidden gem is Mr. Jasper. He has not met you yet, but he’s sure he likes you. If you head a couple doors south from the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, you will often find Jasper splayed out at his gate, awaiting a belly rub. He is a fine Doggo, and loves a visit.

Hey, you got a building permit for that?

Could not have been better weather for the Tea Party parade! The party is on all weekend, go get yourself a baron of beef then go on rides until you need a little lie down 😎🥳🥴

I remember being so excited as a kid that there was a Canadian Astronaut, and loved my STS-41 mission patch with its embroidered maple leaf. Wore it on my “flight jacket” for a couple of years, and have kept it since. RIP Marc Garneau, and thanks for being an inspiration for a boy who loved space.

Two of my favourite things in one place. Go By Bike Week and the Greater Victoria Public Library! 😎🚲👍

I did like this gentle pushback on the not particularly helpful comment at one of the sessions 🤔

Happy World Bicycle Day everyone! And during Go By Bike Week no less. I own a number of bikes but I am especially attached to my humble daily driver. I started bike commuting over 15 years ago, and the only piece left of the bike I started with is the seat post 😳😂. Fractions of a penny per Km ❤️🚲🥳👋

This weekend’s used book store find: the article that started it all. Strangely I’ve never had a copy of it, and here it just fell to hand next to the till.
