Although I strongly think Greenland has a vast potential, it's more critical for the EU's revival, than the US, if they can manage resources. Also extreme stance of nations of late in geopolitical matters is worrying as it sets up a wrong precedence.

Electricity price across the world is a key indicator of where data centers will come up and innovate. Source - Statista

1. Countries like Russia benefit from abundant natural gas supply.
2. India & China still depend on coal due to their massive size (they have progressed fairly on renewables)..

It's tempting to assign high electricity costs to renewable energy adoption. However, it's important to look at the nuances. Energy sources are called by the utility to meet demand based on their marginal cost of production (higher for gas-fired generators vs say wind).

I had always wondered why Greenland is called so despite being 80% covered in ice until I recently read that its discoverer, Erik the Red, named it that way to make it sound more inviting and convince people to settle there.

It recently gained attention again though.

Have you ever noticed those elegant white trails airplanes leave behind? Turns out, they're not as harmless as you'd think.

When planes fly, they don't just emit CO2 - we also get a mix of water vapor, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur aerosols.

I have always been amused by how can x temperature feel like y where y<x. 😁

Jokes aside, while it feels comfortable to have less cold, it's a bad signal. And it's slowly becoming a global phenomenon. I come from India, where winters have shifted from Dec to Jan/Feb already in the past 15 yrs.
Another “unseasonably warm” day in NYC. Except it’s not unseasonable anymore. It’s the climate.

It’s sort of nice, but it means disaster is coming, faster.

Tokyo Transit Oriented Development - a great approach for platform building. So many tech companies have picked it up, like Google, Amazon and many more. Examples given in the thread.

Cool innovation, by adding batteries in the stove. Maybe this can participate in demand response programs 2mrw :-)

I see such concepts being used in other segments too, e.g. adding a battery powered electric trailer behind an EV to solve the table anxiety issue.

Interestingly Lithium-Ion battery still has ~80% of its usable energy capacity remaining at the end of its life in electric vehicles (EV).

When an EV battery reaches the end of its first life, it can take three possible paths.

Read about this interesting startup Air Protein today. They have developed a meat alternative called Air Meat which uses carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to culture protein in the lab. Best part, it just takes 24 to 72 hours to form.

But why is this big? Cont in the thread.

in a software driven world, remote controllability is both feature & threat.
ex -
a) hackers could hack the EV software leaving drivers stranded

b) cos like sunrun going under could render home batteries and solar setup non- functional

its important to see them as more than mere tech glitches.
