Now, fair enough, I just don't think it adds entertainment value to the show. Sometimes it works (the planet of white supremacists in the last series was really good), sometimes it feels like tickboxing and it's cringeworthy. And I say that from a broadly liberal viewpoint.

As for the politics, it's a mixed bag. I like the cast, not been an issue. I like the liberal tone (Peter Capaldi punching a Victorian racist was great), but I'm also aware that there's a beef between online right-wingers and Russel T. Davies and sometimes his writing feels like trolling...

To address the 'villain' point, the reintroduction of the Daleks, Cybermen in 2005/6 didn't require flashbacks of previous doctors; they were part of pop culture lore and they role was well explained. The need to show past clips with the Rani/Omega says it all.

I would love to agree, but after watching Wish World I’m scratching my head as too wtf this all is. Refs to obscure 70s/80s villains, not very accessible.
It’s always been liberal but the social commentary is a bit on the nose and can make me cringe. The disability plot in the last one felt forced.

TFB avait le mérite d’être très cohérent et issu d’une session massive où il a écrit / enregistré 20-25 titres. Là j’ai l’impression qu’il a tout mis sur le disque y compris des choses qui n’y avaient pas leur place.

Oui je m’en suis lassé aussi parce qu’une flanquée de morceaux sont un cran en dessous et cassent la dynamique. Et avec du recul c’est un poil mou même si ça démarre et finit nickel.
Par contre le morceau titre je ne m’en lasse pas.
