Run a zig zag wheel up the side of a thick cylinder, then throw from the inside. For lid, slam the slab a couple of times to widen the wheel’s cuts.

Use of scrap: 3 min, brings in what a carefully made mug does. It is VERY important that you only display one so no one thinks “I will come back for one later”. Customers like the get it before it’s gone & one-of-a-kind feeling, and buy it as a gift for that relative who gardens.

Somehow brushing a bit of black iron oxide on porcelain made the body come out looking like marble. I have never been able to reproduce it.

Has anyone tried this? The glaze on the top third was terrible after a cone 10 firing. So I put raku on over that part. Now I have watertight raku!
