As an assemblymember, Mamdani was a co-founder of the NYS Asian Pacific American Task Force and a staunch advocate for marginalized communities. We look forward to working with him and the new city council in building a New York City where everyone can thrive.
November 5, 2025 at 2:09 PM
Asian New Yorkers are the fastest growing electorate in NYC and make up 13% of eligible voters. From Bangladeshi New Yorkers in Jackson Heights to Chinese New Yorkers in Sunset Park, Mayor-elect Mamdani built a coalition as diverse as the City he will now lead.

What does make us safer and what we were heartened to see was ordinary New Yorkers standing in solidarity with our neighbors. We call on the Governor, Attorney General, Mayor, and City Council to act together to protect all New Yorkers and strengthen sanctuary city protections.

An incursion of more than 50 masked, heavily armed agents, using military style equipment into these streets to arrest street vendors and community members does nothing to make our communities safer.

AAF condemns Tuesday's raid of Canal Street vendors and arrest of community members by militarized immigration enforcement.
