the steam machine and the vr headset look sick though. a real linux vr device and a consumer-ready linux-specific gaming desktop is huge

i got the idea from a comment here: pvk.ca/Blog/2015/06.... this typically isn't done because floats are ineffective for bucketing smaller allocations, but since there are no allocations in my game less than 256 bytes, it works great!
