Greybeard nerdy artist-type. Makes graphics. Flies drones.
The company I work for uses a really nice custom font (attractive, readable, good weights, good x-height, etc.) and it's a close cousin of the Calibre/Myriad families. It's great to design with.

I have to do cursive from the top like that, but I print and draw from below. But I spin the paper, not my hand. When I fill out forms people always laugh at the lefty spinning the paper 180 back and forth to go between writing info and smearing the signatures.

Last one out the door - please hit the self destruct button on the remaining smallpox sample. I really, really don't want to see that in the wild because of these idiots.

Jack in the Box tacos! Bizarre fried perversions beloved by even those of us with easy access to, and a love of, the best real tacos.

It has been 80 years since the end of WW2 and just last year guards/staff who were "just following orders" were still being convicted. This will be the only thing people remember about them for the rest of their miserable lives.

Gee - I wonder why he really, really wants to get people thinking of 14 year-olds as adults.

YES! If a grade school kid can't accurately draw the flag from memory (what decides the dimensions of the blue, and how are those stars arranged again?), then that's bad branding

Unanticipated? Betcha that "you agree to be filmed for publicity use" clause of the ticket sales agreement just leaps off the page.

I guess I'm a little spoiled - our neighborhood bar has RC on tap.

Oh no! Repetition in cartoons?

(With respect to @ryannorth.ca )

Yes, it's an Opinion piece they're promoting, and If a news org publishes things in the Op/Ed that I think are egrigiously idiotic and harmful, I can decide for myself if that's sufficient for me to not support the organization, ffs.

Hey @theguardian.com as a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, let me emphasize to you just how very much I WON'T contribute to your "please support us with a donation" request after utter garbage like this. Do better.

That pixel art portrait is AI, so uncopyrightable and available to use as anyone sees fit

Anyone needing a few quick bucks (tho it would likely be very few) you now seem to have his explicit permission to pirate any of his dozen books, slap your name on the cover, and sell it on Amazon.

Continued questions about the cognitive abilities of John McCormick and Ken Thomas are emerging, casting doubts as to whether the WSJ is best suited to be used as fishwrap or in composting tiolets.

Slashed them from nothing to 30%? When the journalists and editors get to the office this morning, maybe have them revisit your framing for this story. Then maybe find a job you're actually suited for - making widgets on the assembly line might be better?

We've been meaning to have a bottle on hand so when it does happen we can rush into the street and make a cork-popping, champers-spraying spectacle of ourselves!
April 4, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Then I would encourage you to not have a byline on a pay-walled article with a journalistically indefensible headline. Most of the world will only ever see your name attached to that garbage header. But seeing the lede is the same drek, then maybe pretending it's not what you meant is also garbage.

@davidjlynch.bsky.social A journalist has to get it right every time or risk instant loss of trust in their integrity - and that trust doesn't get reestablished easily. It's hard to start anew as a graybeard, but any thoughts as to what career you'll try next, having shat this one away?

Fully on board ... but maybe "glistening" isn't quite the right adjective to describe such a magnificent feast.

Anyone looking to relocate crumbling old barels of nuke waste or DDT should remember they are supposed to be carelessly dumped just upslope from Lee's house.

@captmarkkelly.bsky.social and @gallego.senate.gov we did NOT elect you two so you could rubberstamp the trumpist agenda ... eg, the lunatic YOU confirmed is dismantling the EPA's climate response as we speak, and as AZ becomes inhospitable to life. Be the opposition party we want.

I wouldn't want a butler at all, but I'd enjoy having some weirdo sapient AI pals in the mix. (I propose @ass.golf to lead the design team for those.)
