I somehow already had him blocked so I assume he is on one of those big blocklists

Even if you know it's better, you'll always be aware that fact with added context that people didn't want that. And I think that's the only reason the argument of good/bad endings sticks around for so many people.

Even if the ending is good, if all people debate is whether or not it was "bad" you won't hear the positives in context of it being a good thing. You'll hear "they resolved this conflict maturely and with positive character reinforcement" in the context of people who wanted a different resolution.

The big difference I would say is that manga readers very much have to be online to read the content and then can decide to react in real time to said ending. It then depends how much converstation or discourse revolves around "the ending was bad" vs "the ending was good".

It's really the same with any book series or TV show. You can try to resolve your story as you want but there are people who will remove any enjoyment they got out of it because the ending didnt satisfy them specifically. There are bad endings but sometimes people just want more where there isn't.

I'm happy with Hoseki no Kuni's ending. I love Noragami's ending. I love Dressup Darling's ending. Innocent was pretty baller with its end even though it was sad! And I'm sure there's a bunch of others that have ended and people liked. I do think that people just don't like things to end.

I wish so hard everyday that they just ended seven deadly sins but I've heard the second series is fine even though I refuse to read it at this point. I heard that the 100-year quest for Fairy Tail is fine but I really wonder if they could have just left it. BUT I'm happy with air gears ending.

Outside of Jump, though, I've read plenty of endings I was fine with and felt weren't worth complaining about. Others however were disappointing in that they ended and then had spin-offs that were just the same thing a little later in time.

The demon Slayer ending felt fine to me, rather it was the final arc that felt rushed. I can imagine an ending where things go much worse and feels like they were gauging readers to determine the ending whenever I go back to it, but that might just be because each chapter had a cliff hanger of sorts

I remember when Reborn ended and I thought that was kinda disappointing purely because I wanted to more resolve for the characters getting well....what they wanted? Like we've seen the future of the characters so it feels weird to end without them moving toward it and instead choosing the status quo

If it's not subbing a translation, then it's usually for retention. The reason gamer channels add them and make them bouncy is retention, but it doesn't have to be bouncy to work on other videos, too. It also helps auto generate chapters in videos as yt scans the text in the videos.
