P is for PHENOMENA (1985)!

Jennifer Connelly teams up with Donald Pleasence as they use her ability to communicate with insects to uncover the identity of a mad killer. You have to see this ending to believe it. Time for maggot, mad ape, and monster child mayhem from Dario Argento!

O is for OUIJA (2014)

Kind of an odd promotional vehicle for Hasbro to sell more Ouija boards. Make sure that the movie is PG-13. Kids will go watch it, see onscreen kids meet unfortunate ends after using an Ouija board. Leave the theater, buy one, and try it with THEIR friends!

N is for NIGHT OF THE DEMONS (1988)

I know that a lot of people absolutely adore this one. Night of the Demons is a movie that I missed when I was growing up in the '80s and '90s, so I don't have the nostalgia that a lot of others do. It does have some fun moments, though!

M is for THE MAN WITH NINE LIVES (1940)!

From the title, you may assume that Karloff is some kind of cat-man in this one, but no, unfortunately not. He is obsessed with cryogenics, though. My favorite is that coffee through a tube is used to assist in bringing people out of their icy slumber.

L is for LEPRECHAUN (1993)! 🍀

I mean, come on, when letter L just happens to fall on St. Patrick's Day, this has to be the obvious choice. Or one of the many sequels, of course.

K is for KING KONG (1933)!

Closing out the weekend with some classic giant monster action. Clearly one of the most important pop culture icons ever.

J is for JAWS 2 (1978)!

Okay, so Jaws 2 is no Jaws. But it's also much better than Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge. So if you happen to want more Jaws action, then Jaws 2 is probably where you want to go. And that's my public service announcement regarding Jaws 2.

I is for THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN (1957)!

The execution here is the key. What could have been a goofy experience with a silly sounding title, is played deadly serious. Amazing special effects highlight spectacular battles with a spider, and a cat, once a pet, but now a relentless predator.

H is for HIGHWAY TO HELL (1991)!

A young couple (Kristy Swanson & Chad Lowe) eloping to Las Vegas leave the interstate, hoping to avoid the authorities, only to end up in a struggle to escape the underworld!

G is for Grim Prairie Tales (1990)

Four different stories, including a man who has no respect for other cultures and pays the price, a father unable or unwilling to put his past behind him, and a hired gun who is haunted by his most recent opponent and a pregnant woman wandering the prairie.

F is for THE FLY (1986)! 🪰

The evolution of Jeff Goldblum's human character into Brundlefly (with fingernails, ears, and other body parts falling off at inopportune times) becomes a horrifying analogy for disease and aging. An '80s special effects showcase from David Cronenberg.

E is for EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS (1956)!

One of the most incredible movie titles of all time. And with Ray Harryhausen providing special effects, there are some iconic scenes that are not to be missed!

D is for Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972)!

This one does not seem to be a favorite amongst fans of the Hammer Dracula series. But those people are wrong because I find myself re-watching this one more often than the others. It's a hell of a lot of goofy fun.

C is for CARRIE (1976)!

The first Stephen King film adaptation, and still one of the very best. Sissy Spacek, Piper Laurie, and the rest of the cast are just phenomenal. An absolute must-see. One of Brian De Palma's best directorial efforts.

B is for THE BLACK CAT (1934)!

Is this the first horror film to use Satanism as a plot device? We also have fear of cats, women displayed in glass cases, playing chess for the lives of people, and Karloff's clearly sinister triangular hairstyle to contend with!
