Women have fought hard to have our medical needs taken seriously - are still fighting hard for this in fact. Encouraging women to have dangerous and painful births is anti feminist.

Returned from night out to find my kitchen covered in post-baking disarray AND philosophy books. According to my emotional teenager Plato & Socrates were having a chill time in Symposium then Plato became angry/serious in Republic because the state killed his best friend

Astonishing debut novel. Light but perfect prose. Characters that feel real even as they inhabit three very different alternate realities. Bucket loads of pathos. A hard & confronting read in many places but still a celebration of survival, life and love. 10/10

Two words for music/dance that don’t seem to have an equivalent for literature?

Nyah (Irish)-indefinable quality of authenticity/feel/soul that makes music feel real.
Duende (Spanish)-heightened state of emotion/expression/heart/soul.

This book has both.

Nobody’s Girl. Out now. Not only important that we all read it but also that we are seen to read it. Let those vile abusers see the sales rocket then be sure to share your copy with anyone not able to buy or borrow from a library

My wonderful friend’s book will be released by Chicken House next year and is already ‘killing it’ in the pre sale charts. It’s not just a pretty cover.

Border Morris Dancers at the Ross on Wye Cider Festival this weekend.
They let me join in - with a stick and everything. Now I’m going to join a local troop. Make Morris Dancing cool again lol

Dog & rabbit made it safely into the UK 😮‍💨. I wasn’t worried about the dog but the rabbit … holy moly! Even the border officers had some difficulty checking & said almost no one ever brings rabbits with them. It’s hard to be a ‘cheap’ pet.

Now that Jasper is on his drive back to the UK there is no one to save me from sneezes! Not sure how this is going to go.

I love liminal places where earth & water meet so decided to spend my 49th birthday where the seas meet at Skagen. It felt poignant to put a foot in each sea knowing that I’m passing from one half of my life to the other & also soon moving back to the UK

Tory members chose this utter twonk to be the leader of their party & PM of our country. The Omnishamble fraud fest that followed shocked no one who remembered his work history. Why does anyone still read the bilge that he pumps out? News flash Boris, France is our ally.

Life’s rich tapestry: my (super gorgeous) friend snogged her postman during a focal impaired awareness seizure.

Came round to find him backing away and saying ‘No, sorry. I’m married.’ (In a Yorkshire accent)

No damage done. Parcels delivered on time.
