I always see fishing line in the nests, but this is the first time I've seen a whole fishing pole up there. (There are always at least a few tangled, dead birds in these trees every year, so please take the stuff with you when you see it.) Susquehanna River 4-2-25 #birds

Double crested cormorants nesting colony on the lower Susquehanna river. Their inner mouths turn blue during mating season. The nests have more fishing line and other plastics in them this year. By midsummer there's usually one or two tangled birds dead, hanging in the tree. 4-2-25 #birds
