Personally I think pen-and-paper work is better: Humans are generally the most efficient thermodynamic machines, but the progress is slow then (which may not be such a bad thing in the currently noisy world).

I am desolate having missed the peak in europe and then getting a cloudy sky with 0% aurora visibility forecast.

I would've loved the challenge to get an interesting picture.

LLM tools do seem to overwhelm commits and patches for some large projects now, but FFMpeg does have issues - lest of all a slow (If I recall correctly) development due to limited resources.
Funding is an unsolved issue for many of fundamental, but not flashy OS projects.

From own observations: Those that moan about "algorithms and data structures" went into CS not b/c of interest, but purely hoping for a bigger paycheck.

I gotta try this out. I've had a few simple plots over the past years for which I had to make two plots - log and lin due to the dynamic range of the data.
