Same with Kroger. Felt like shopping at the neighborhood grocery store. Now they're devouring other chains left and right.

This would be as compared to now, where the executive owes a fiduciary duty to the shareholders to maximize profit at all costs, at times to the detriment of those who hold a vested stake in the companies continued success: employees and labor.

Not only would this give the c-suite flexibility, to weigh options and have a stable footing to make financially un-optimal decisions, it would give employees and labor an avenue to sue/enjoin executives from actions that hurt them and undermine their rights as stakeholders.

You're telling me you can help people's material conditions, and they will reward you at the ballot box? Unheard of, let's just stick to tweaks around the edges, empty platitudes, and a feigned inability to do anything positive because of rules/norms or the big bad Republicans.

Its almost like the decades-long class war has pushed the working class to the brink and we are looking for anyone to help. No wonder many voted for the snake-oil salesman when he's the only one offering a coherent, however wrong, theory of the case. Offer a left answer to the working class and win.

Pretty hard to fight for the beliefs and desires of your voting base when those same beliefs and desires conflict with the monetary interest of your donor base. We've reached a tipping point with this tension, its not sustainable. Democrats need to refocus on what made them win: the working class.
