I grew up in a church (nominally) that doesn't recognize Christmas as a religious holiday, but my family still always celebrates it. I think for a lot of people it's more accurate to say that they observe it as a cultural holiday, rather than it claim a secular holiday.

It's fascinating because every time you level up to get cool abilities, you soon abandon the class to do a new one and learn a bit more about being a human, all so you can eventually maybe become a squishy vulnerable mortal. If done right, it's the opposite of a power fantasy (in the best way).

Also, Promethean: the Created. Play Frankenstein monsters slowly trying to become real people and get a soul. A full game is LONG, as you have to swap through a bunch of different character classes and hit story milestones just to even try to roll dice to get a soul. But it's extremely rewarding

If you have the right players, I highly suggest Wraith: the Oblivion (20th Anniv. Ed.). It requires a LOT of trust bc each player is also another player's Shadow, whispering nihilistic taunts and tempting them with extra dice on key rolls (at a cost ofc). If you have a good table, it's got real gas

And some of the more wacko systems are genuinely great! My table did a three session spinoff arc featuring the naval combat system and it was a delight. And I've only barely touched the criminal investigation or government/business empire building mini games. It's truly jaw dropping what's in there

Seconding Exalted. I'm approaching the finale on DMing a 4 year campaign in it, and while we often abridge/skip the more byzantine sub-systems, it's been 100% worth running. If you're willing to get in the sandbox with it and give it a real shot, it can tell some amazingly operatic stories

Is it BYU? (My heart says it's Auburn though)

What's the spot? I wonder if it's the same Moonwalker cabinet that used to be at Button Mash in Echo Park (RIP to one of LA's best)

I bought a ticket to the Rose Bowl a week ago because I live nearby and I hoped I'd get to see my Vols in it. But getting to see this banger in-person is a nice consolation prize.
