1981, I was there of course in a tour run by and spied upon by Intourist.
The food was often awful: lunch of cabbage soup with slices of mystery sausage and bread.
The concept of service workers was new and just performing their job requirements didn't extend to being pleasant or helpful.

They now show up mainly at military surplus stores, such as this one at Supply Sergeant in Los Angeles.

How about this

The government of Israel is pro-Hamas.
They secretly funded and provided intelligence for the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel.
Trading 2000 Israeli dead for 100,000 Palestinians is worth it, especially as an excuse to completely cleanse out Gaza.

I don't see how a village to house visiting amateur athletes is an "example of sustainable urban development".
Most of the jobs it creates will be servant level one to cook and clean for the visitors.
The athletes will be tourists but won't have any money to inject into the local economy.

"The plans of the crematoriums at Auschwitz show effectively that the installations of the gas chambers were for disinfecting against Typhus."

then why did the plans of the crematoriums include crematoriums which are for disposing of the dead?

Most were left holding an empty bag.

Why are we not talking about those who came out far ahead, or is that market structured to hide their identities.

in the early 1980s I worked in El Segundo. We used to celebrate the occasional clear day when we could see the Hollywood sign 17 miles away.

The larger problem is the promotion of viral postings and the discouragement in walled garden platforms of linking to original sources. 10000x the documentary audience.
People make up a story about some clip and it gets passed around as true.
There is no clear way to get to a future of well sourced.

The founders were probably right that political corruption will cause moral corruption but how we got to our present mess was by politics first being taken over by the morally corrupt.

The Wikipedia article "Cartel of the Suns" is a steaming hot mess, maybe in part because of translation from the corresponding Spanish article. See its talk page.

I can't imagine how to start cleaning it up and weathering the edit fights.

what's your issue with David French? While I don't follow him I get the impression that he is a non-bigoted Evangelical who believes Christians should follow love not hate.

Then again he may soon convert to liberal Catholicism.

In some places the South was more housing integrated than elsewhere since they had a large tradition of Black servants.

My Georgia grandmother had an unmarried house keeper who lived in nearby alley slum housing and could walk between family and work. Other places had large ghettos.

That's a classic fruit fly trap.
Biosecurity New Zealand says its for trapping queens during nest building seasons because they need sugar.
BNZ also says they are still evaluating baits to minimize bycatch.
